Angela Wright
Secretary
Angela’s parents were born and raised on Jagera, Giabal Jarowair and Geynyan Country while she was born on Bigambul Country. Angela however has lived the majority of her life on Turrbal and Jagera Country. She recognises the cultures, histories and diversity of our First Nation People and their deep connection to the lands, waters and seas of Queensland and the Torres Strait. She will always be respectful and walk together with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities, and organisations in our journey to better health.
As a free-range country kid Angela had the best childhood one could hope for. Her love for being outdoors and playing set her up for life particularly when she gratefully discovered in 1977 that it is possible to have a whole career in recreation and the outdoors!
Commencing work in the recreation sector in 1980, she found her natural habitat in local government in 1988. She has been advocating, planning and helping provide for outdoor recreation places, spaces, programs and services for her whole career. Angela finished her local government career in 2017 after 17 years with Redland City Council in Environment Management and City Spaces. She will be forever grateful for her time at Redland and to the people who she worked beside.
In December 2019, in a world just before Covid19, Angela commenced in the paid position of Program Manager for Nature Play QLD, she finished up this role in June 2022. Fortunately she loves being a volunteer so will continue her volunteer journey with Queensland Walks, the Australian Institute of Play and the Nature Play Spaces Consultancy Service.
